Cow Green Reservoir.
A little walk before lunch!
It would have been longer, but it was cold, sorry it was COLD,(and Sue has now brought some warmer trousers.)
When 'Cow Green' reservoir was built, it was the largest in the country. In the open, the wind was quite strong and cold. There is no wind protection any where, it just blows, even on the nicest of days.
Up to at least the 1950's 'Cow Green' had over a hundred men working in the lead mine, the highest number since the end of the war. Looking around there are some signs of this activity, such as Danger keep away, big hole!! signs. If you look at the last 3 pictures, it looks like you can see signs of sleepers for some sort of track for the workings.(November 2009)
