Hapton to Riley Green (The Pub)

To day it rained, and it rained and it rained - you could say it was a little bit wet! besides being drenched, it was a good day to day.

We set of from Hapton and managed to arrive at the top of the Blackburn locks by lunch time. Josh used the opportunity to pop out to the local supermarket and get provisions, and then we had a light lunch while we waited to see if any body else would turn up.

Nobody else did, so we tackled yet another set of lock by our selves. It was interesting to note that on the Yorkshire side, we had a water shortage, with restricted opening times and low pounds etc. while on the Lancashire side, water is cascading over the top of lock gates and flooding over on to the towpath?

Coming into Blackburn from the east seems depressing, but definitely better than a few years ago, but once we were through the locks every thing seemed to get much better very quickly.

We cruised steadily on until we arrived at Riley Green, where we moored up for the evening, and went for a drink - fortunately we were not planning to eat there, as they were not serving that night.

Notes on progress.
