Johnson Hill top lock to Hapton.
Looking up to Johnson Hill top lock in about 1972.
Johnson hill top lock, feels like it would be a
good place to stop for a while, nice showers, water etc. and a
nearby village of Wheelton with some basic shops.
It is a pleasant drive straight threw to
Blackburn and by late morning we are at the bottom of the
Blackburn flight of locks. This meant we had gone under the M65,
prior to Riley Green, then past the pub at Riley Green. Didn't
stop this time, on we went, through Cherry Tree (British
Waterways services) and on we go to the locks.
Food - and then up the locks, soon
acomplished, actualy met a boat coming down? novality. Then we
journey through the worst parts of Blackburn, but soon we are
out and things get better. Past Rishton and over the M65,
through Church and under the M65 and into Clayton-Le-Moors. The
canal kisses the M65 a few more times before we find Hapton,
where we tie up at the Visiter Moorings.
A little walk up and down the canal.
