Dewsbury is a historic market, minster and mill town in West Yorkshire, England in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees.
It is to the west of Wakefield, east of Huddersfield and south of Leeds. It lies by the River Calder and is part of the Calder and Hebble Navigation. The river pases through the town, while a cutting by-passes the wier and has an arm entering Deswbury to the east of the centre.
