A very hot day spent walking around the village Shardlow (not far from Nottingham) and the Trent and Mersey canal which flows through it and joins the river Trent not far away.

Trent and Mersey Canal

Just out side Shardlow, walking towards the river Trent. Looking at what was once a Warf area.

Trent and Mersey Canal

Looking at a new flood lock, to protect the area from the River Trent.

Sue and Ivis are having a meaningful discussion about hats! With Richard and Henry behind.

Looking down the last part of the canal, before it reaches the last lock and then the river Trent.

Richard checking we have not lost anybody, and Ivis and Henry bring up the rear. The hats are to keep of the sun, not normal.

Trent and Mersey Canal

What was interesting about this boat was the shape of it bow, looks like the front of a old warship?

Trent and Mersey Canal

The last lock, seemed to be a queue of boats waiting to come up.

Trent and Mersey Canal

Second boat entered the lock - still some more waiting there turn.

Trent and Mersey Canal

Some more waiting there turn.

River Trent

Standing on the last part of the Trent and Mersey canal, looking down the Trent towards Nottingham. Up to recently, there use to be a footbridge crossing the Trent here, but it is no more. Which meant we had to walk back the way we came.

On the way back up to Shardlow, the boat "Imagine", was having problems keeping a steady course in the very gusty wind.
