The year

The year started cold and wet and icey/slush/snow sort of wat, the cold hanging around right into April. For some reason the sun decieded to come out when we buried Sue's ashes in April for us. This seemed to give us amazing colours through out the summer and I did escape from Keighley as well down to go down south as well as meet up with family. The year ended like the beginning, very wet and cold, with many rivers being near flood levels.

Up on the hills outside Settle - the weather is good.

January

Jaunuary is about getting back into the normal routine of life, going out to classes and meeting people. The family come over at the end of the month to see us and to take us out to sunny climbes of North Yorkshire. There are visits to Gargrave to see Dawn and make sure she is OK. Just another normal month.

February

Out with John on several Saturdays, particularly to Halifax, travelling via Denholm which is not great. Travelling to Oxenhope is happening again with walks around the village while waiting for buses. Keeping a close eye on Dawn, means going out to Gargrave and exploring the village and canal out there, not many people at this time of year. There is also visits to Saltaire and Ilkley as well.

March

The house is up for sale and there is a board outside, perticulars have been printed, and we are on the internet. But no one is interested and eventually took her of the market. Start have lunch on occasions out at Oxenhope railway station, at it least it makes a change.

I attend a modelling railway exibition this month, a local one, something that Sue had encouraged me to take an interest in! And there are the usual visits to canals, boats etc.

April

Go and stay with Henry and Ivis and we all meet up with Charlie and family, including grandparents at the Midland Railway Heritage line at Ripley. Nearly where I used to live? Spend time in Gargrave again this month as well as on the Rochdale canal, (means pictures of canal and boats!)

In Airton at the Quaker meeting house who have just had a book published about it's history and it's place in Quaker history and we had some music as well.

Aslo had a look at the Heritage line at Wirksworth, I seemed to have got around in April.

May

On the May bank holiday I walk the Leeds and Liverpool canal into Skipton and stopped for lunch at one of the pubs by the canal. Also spent time by the canal this month (as usual nearly) at Gragrave, Hebden Bridge, Skipton and Leeds. Just for a change we visit Harrogate for the day. but we don't enjoy the shopping centre. I do my nearly monthly visits to Huddersfield (the dentist this time) Oh and at the end of the month we are in Ilkley.

June

Canal side coffees start the month off in Skipton, Five Rise locks and Gargrave, (and some walking!). The Tuesday Group meets for a meal on a Friday evening. There is the watching the trains at Oxonhope station before going up to Manorlands. Actualy there is more watching, but the River at Gargrave as it flows over the stepping stones in the center of the village.

July

The month carries on like the last one with activities based around the canal at a variety of locations.

In the middle of the month it's to Beeston near Nottingham to see Ivis and Henry, and after that it is up to see Charlie and family and to see the town of the "Kiss Me Slow" hats.

Then we are home again and visiting Skipton woods, and mill pool overflowing into the stream.

Charlie enjoying his Icecream desert! we seem to be out celebrating on Sue's birthday! In the same place, a fish and chip shop.

August

This is the first year with out Sue around celebrating her birthday! (not that she was often at home actually for it.) At the begining of the month we are in Halifax at the Piece Hall, which was having it's official opening with things going on. But it is so large that even the large crowd, once it had managed to get through the entrace doors had plenty of room to spread out. At least the small shops/units did plenty of buisness today, they were heaving.

In the middle of the month Charlie brought his parents up including the "Giant Vampire Rabbit" and we all went out to enjoy tea in Skipton, especially pudding. We spent the day on the "East Lancs Heritage Railway". Including there museum of travel, where Charlie practiced driving a bus.

September

Sue died on the 28th of this month last year, it is said that you should not selebrate the death, but selebrate there life, who they were, so we try to do that. This was pointed out to me by a friend (at Tuesday Group). Follow the link at the bottom of the page to: "Anniversaries train"

An interesting month, I even get to try a little belly dancing this month over at Om Yoga Works in Leeds.
But the main story this month is mooving Dawn around different places besides my normal classes.

November

In the middle of the month we have Richard, Ivis and Henry up for a few days with us and we take advantage of Richard to drive us up into North Yorkshire.

December

December is inclined to be cold damp and awfull, and it didn't disappoint but there wre some good days, but I admit I can't recall them? The early days of the month is about being local, but then we get into the parties and then going to stay with Henry and Ivis over the Christmas. Last year 2016, I cancelled Christmas as it was to near to Sue dying last year. So slightly more cheerfull time this time.

Then after Christmas we went home just in time to catch the snow? Ooooo so nice!
