Part of Keighley's bank holiday celebrations on the theme of transport. This bus is parked up in the local colleges car park. But there is vintage machinary scattered all over Keighley..

June

The month starts with an extra bank holiday, so Keighley is celebrating by having an historical weekend, one of the main events is the display of vintage transport across the town. A bit like a game, how many different items can you find.

Thursday 2: Transport day - Bus Museum
Keighley to help celebrate the Bank holiday is holding a two day historical transport day with different things happening around the town. We start of at the Bus Museum, with me and John and my Brother Richard.
Thursday 2: Transport day - Keighley College
After the Bus Museum Richard left to go home, me and John continued up to the college or at least the college car park to see more buses and some trolley buses.
Thursday 2: Transport day - Shopping centre
After the college me and John went to the shopping centre to see the motor bikes and have a coffee, in the market.
Thursday 2: Transport day - Cliffe Castle
After the motor bikes at the shopping centre, we moved of and caught the free bus to Cliffe Castle where we planned to have a snack at the very nice cafe there. But we were doomed! Cliffe Castle was filled to the brim with people and the que for the cafe stretched around the park. We looked at the cars and moved on.
Thursday 2: Transport day - The canal
After getting a bus on our passes we arrived at the canal at Riddlesden, this is the closest the canal comes to Keighley. This was the smallest of the displays for the event. There was the education boat Kennet and a few canoes to try tempt people on to the water. Afterwards we carried on walking down the canal to East Riddlesden Hall (NT) but they were closed. So we took the bus back to Keighley.
Saturday 4: Day out to Otley
Bank holiday Saturday, things are running, but after the crowded Thursday and Friday of the bank Holiday, to day seemed very quite. We go to Otley, eat in one of the nice cafes and walk down to the river.
Thursday 9: The Burial Ground
Meet Kathie in town for a coffee and then walk out to find a possible Quaker burial ground. We find Calversyke Hill and generally look around noting the ones that belong to the Briggs family.
Tuesday 14: To meeting
There is going to be a meeting in the meeting house on every other Tuesday during the summer. So this Tuesday I am going to attend. Some pictures from within the meeting house.
Thursday 23: Farfield Meeting
An afternoon spent walking from Addingham to Farfield meeting house by the river Wharfe. Stopping along the way for a light lunch. We met David along the way who was hurry to make sure there was a welcome for all when they arrived at this historic place.

At the meeting house there was 7 of us, who sat down to a period of silent worship. After the meeting, we all walked together back to Addingham, with three of us catching the bus to Keighley.
