Swami Vimuktananda Saraswati.
Another aspect of Hatha Yoga is a set of practices called the
Shatkarmas or more simply six processes which clean/detoxify the
physical body. These practices are introduced outside the normal
yoga class, and can be learnt gradually. The first one to be
introduced is called jala neti: salt-water irrigation of the nose
and the sinuses, using a special neti pot (lota) which is available
from your yoga teacher or centre. It is very beneficial for
sufferers of sinusitis, headaches, hay fever, depression and
insomnia.
There are then practices for the digestive system which involve
learning a specific sequence of asana practices. For more
information refer to your teacher.
