Vimuktananda met her teacher Swami Satyaprakash in Birmingham in 1986 and subsequently trained with her in 1991/93 to gain a Bihar School of Yoga qualification in teaching yoga. In the autumn of 1993 she attended the International Yoga Convention in Bihar, India and on the 5th November was initiated by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati into Jignasu Sannyasa.

From the year 2000 Vimuktananda took on the role of Centre Manager at the Satyananda Yoga Centre in Birmingham, and began teaching Yoga full-time. Also in the year 2000 she went to the Satyananda Ashram in Greece for a Yoga Festival with Swami Niranjanananda and on 1st April was initiated into Karma Sannyasa.

Vimuktananda moved to West Yorkshire in 2004, and teaches general classes, one-to-one sessions for health management (including the yoga cleansing practices), day seminars and meditation courses. She is qualified to assess trainee yoga teachers (in the Satyananda tradition), and has also successfully completed the City & Guilds 7302 Certificate in Delivering Learning Stage One. From 2005 -2007 she assisted on the Mandala Yoga Ashram Teacher Training course. Also in 2005 she was accepted by the British Wheel as a teacher for IST days.
