The tree company brought in a large crane, after
they had emptied the road of cars! This is a record of them removing
the tree, bit by bit.
The tree surgeons arrived as
planned at 7:30. They set about
clearing a path for the crane,
removing phone lines etc.
The crane and articulated support
lorry arrived about 8:00, with
there support van. The crane
reversed down the road.
They took there time in
deciding the optimum
position for the
crane to go.
The crane then lifted its weights
and protective pads of the
articulated lorry, and positioned
them.
It took nearly 2 hours to
have the crane ready to go.
They are going to lift the parts
of the tree out, by taking them
over the end terrace house
next to us.
The crane swinging in to
position the first time.
Seen from our
own garden.
The main trunk of the tree
sticking out from
behind the shed.
Starting to cut the first branch
away from the tree. The branch
has already been attached
to the crane.
The first branch swings free
from the tree.
The branch swings over the
house next door.
The branch about to be put
down in front of the next
door house.
Another view of the branch coming
in to land.
Landed, ladder up on the side of
the house, as the rope used
to
guide the load in had
caught up on the TV arial.
A shot of the tree, after a few
branches had been removed.
Another branch attached to
the crane, and is about
to be sawn
through.
Away over the roof tops it goes.
A collection of the first branches
to be removed. They had pair
of men,
working non stop trimming the
branches down, and chipping
the
smaller bits.
The straight line, is the crane, A
shot showing the main
branches,
leaning like a Saturday night
drunk against the house.
Another branch crosses over
the roof tops, before biting
the
dust on the road.
Attaching chains to tree, the man can
just be seen through the
branches, his
safety line, at this point is attached to the
crane. Next he will use his chain-saw to
cut through and
separate it from the tree.
Another set of branches, fly
through the sky, with the
greatest
of ease?
At this point, they have created
two support posts, from a
branch and they are now
starting to wedge them under
the main
trunck.
Part of the main trunk, show two
supports in place, they
hope this
will stop this part collapsing back
into the house and
causing
further damage.
Another piece glides over next door, before
dropping down into
the road. This seemed to
be the riskier part, as the wind was
starting to
blow, and there always seemed a risk the
branches would swing into one of the houses.
Another branch safely down.
Attacking one of the last
parts of the tree.
And here it goes.
Going. . .
Going . . .
The next door neighbor also
lost one of his smaller trees.
Can we do this in one go or two?
View from upstairs.
Play safe,
one more cut.
Here it goes.
The last bit of tree trunk.
And its all gone....
