Going South for the Summer
Day 14, Saturday 30th July 2011
Shardlow as seen Autumn 2010
Shardlow - No movement.
I was picked up yesterday, and was whisked away with the bags of dirty laundry. Was given lots of lovely food and other edible goodies and plied with drink of many kinds, and had a very goods nights sleep.
This morning after a hearty breakfast, came back to the boat, with bags of edible goodies, with the idea of making things feel better before Sue arrives.
After having a cup of coffee, start to realize that some thing is glinting at me through a crack in the floor. (A new floor has been laid down, but yet to be covered.) On investigation, it appears we have a little bit of water under the kitchen floor!
I partially lift a corner of the floor, to give me access, and using a large sponge, start to get up into a bucket. During the afternoon I clear up some twenty buckets of water. The only thoughts I have on how the water must of got in, is that it must have been when we last filled with water, (I was in the shower at the time.) The over flow, must now be overflowing into the boat, not into the canal! The problem has not recurred, but I have been carefully not to over fill the tank since then.
Feels funny to have the boat to myself, make myself tea, my choice! and sip several nice drinks while reading at the front of the boat, and watching people go by.
Notes on progress. None - being sensible stayed moored.
the continuing story.
