Going South for the Summer
Day 2, Monday 18th July 2011 - with Josh
Wharf in Blackburn, we did not stop this time, picture from previous visit in 2008
Foulridge Wharf to Hapton
Had breakfast and set of for the tunnel entrance, timed so we could go straight through no sign of any other boats on the go. The day started of in wet drizzle, and stayed drizzle to just really wet. - both me and Josh had to change our cloths during the day. Hung around the top of Barrowford locks to see if any other boats were going our way, had a coffee, but no one showed up, so we moved off by our selves. The main structure to day were the tunnels, but the flight of locks at Barrowford was slow, waiting for boats coming up the flight, just made matters worse by just having to stand in the steady rain to wait. Once down the Barrowford flight, the was little sign of other moving boats. Passed the new marina at Colne, seemed to be quite full. Passed through Nelson and Burnley, with little sight of anything, I think we are the only ones out in the rain. Arrived at Hapton about 6 in the evening, and decided it was time to warm up and dry out, and hope the following day would prove to be warmer.
