Lakeside
where water meets land, boats meet trains.
Boat leaving the pier.
On one of our days out in the Lake Disrict, we planned to go the Hawkshead, so on the way there we dropped of at Lake side. Me and Sue had been here before, in the days of British Rail, in those days the boat was a large paddle steamer, owned by British Rail, which steam up and down the lake, but now you have some thing of undistingwishing characteristics. Only the lake is the same. The steam trains that use Lakeside as a terminus, are probabley the same, puffing backwards and forwards on there short line to Haverthwaite (and it dose not quite get there.) Cut of from its destination by the A590. We had a drink and watched a few boats come and go and the train come in and swap passengers with the boats, then we made our way up to Rookhow.
the continuing story.
